This reduces waste that would be headed for landfills and turns it into proteins and fats for re-use. \nThanks to Byron and Tammy for showing me around their operation at Enterra and their Darvonda Nurseries Ltd with Mark Warawa where they’re using greenhouses to grow tropical plants and produce during Canada’s winters.

DESCRIPTION:The next dill pickle you eat probably has some Alberta flavour! \nI visited the Thacker family farm in Bow Valley\, Alberta and learned that most pickle processors use dill oil\, rather than the plant\, to get consistent taste in their pickles. The Thacker family has innovated the technologies to. reduce the energy and labour needed to extract the oil from the dill plant. \nThat’s not all the Thackers are busy with. Ever wonder what gives your toothpaste the minty taste? It could come from the spearmint oil extracted from mint grown on the Thacker farm. The Bow Island producer\, produces over 30% of the spearmint oil in North America.

All I had to do what throw the ball\, Andrew from the Wembley Fire Department did the hard work of getting dunked! \nI was pleased to join Peace Country residents in raising money in support of our neighbours in Fort McMurray. Thanks to all the volunteers\, sponsors and donors who joined us at Canopy West Truck Accessories for a great fundraiser. \nI also had the privilege of meeting with several Fort MacMurray residents who are now staying in GP\, including Gaea and Chris. Gaea and Chris are expecting their first baby any day. They still haven’t confirmed if their house was saved. Chris decided to take a turn on the dunk tank to help raise funds for others who have lost so much.  \n\nI am proud of our community and all Canadians who have stepped up and given so much over the past few weeks!
