WARKENTIN RESPONDS TO LATEST ETHICAL BREACH INVOLVING TRUDEAU

Chris Warkentin, Member of Parliament for Grande Prairie – Mackenzie, joined Conservatives in calling for a criminal investigation into the latest serious ethics scandal involving the Prime Minister.

“The latest revelation of the Prime Minister’s family being paid by an organization that was given a near billion-dollar contract by Justin Trudeau is scandalous,” Warkentin said. “It is shameful that this is not his first major ethical breach, not the second, but rather the third time Justin Trudeau has run afoul of ethics rules.”

“Conservatives will be writing to the RCMP to encourage them to pursue this case. As the investigation proceeds, every single Liberal Member of Parliament needs to look themselves in the mirror and decide if they are comfortable with Justin Trudeau being the leader of their party given his scandal-plagued track record.”

Media are reporting that Justin Trudeau’s mother and brother have both been paid to appear at WE Charity events. Justin Trudeau’s mother spoke at approximately 28 events and received $250,000, and the Prime Minister’s brother spoke at eight events and received approximately $32,000.

“This looks to be a serious conflict of interest and it must be addressed immediately,” Warkentin said. “Parliament must be recalled so we can get to the bottom of this, all documents related to this contract must be made public, and every Cabinet Minister must come clean about whether they knew of the financial relationship between the Prime Minister’s family or the Minister of Finance’s family and the WE organization when they approved this gigantic contract.”

“Canadians deserve answers. Conservatives will always stand for accountability and transparency so that Canadians can trust the government to work in their best interest.”
