As per below, the Cliff and Karren Richards family will be honoured at the Farm Family Banquet hosted by the County of Grande Prairie No. 1, on Friday, March 11th.
“Our farm families are the heart of our rural communities and form the backbone of the great country that we can call our own. A healthy agricultural sector means a healthy province, a healthy Canada, and a healthy world.
Every year the County of Grande Prairie pays tribute to a local farm family who represents the spirit of our agricultural sector. The award goes to a family who demonstrates a commitment to building a strong family farm as well as a strong community and region.
I am pleased that Cliff and Karren Richards and their family have been named the Farm Family of the Year for 2016. The Richards have shown their dedication to volunteering and have been active members in our county for decades. The family has contributed to multiple community and agricultural associations, including the International Agricultural Exchange Association and the Pulse Growers Association. Over the years they offered international exchange workers the opportunity to work on their family farm. All three generations of the Richards family have been active participants in 4-H as well.
The Richards family are an excellent example that farming is not merely an occupation, it is a vocation. There are none more committed to the quality of our food, to farm safety and environmental sustainability than our farm families.
Congratulations to the Richards family and thank you to all our farm families who help build and support our vibrant region.”
