WARKENTIN RETURNS TO OTTAWA TO DEMAND MORE ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY FROM LIBERAL GOVERNMENT

Chris Warkentin, Member of Parliament for Grande Prairie – Mackenzie, travelled to Ottawa to argue for greater accountability from the Liberal government and more oversight for new spending during the pandemic.

“I’m in Ottawa to ensure that residents of the Peace Country are heard,” Warkentin said. “In a crisis, oversight is more important than ever, and the government must be held to account.”

“Justin Trudeau has fled accountability at every turn and is still trying to rule like he has a majority government.”

“There hasn’t been a single debate on government spending and now the Liberals are trying to ram through omnibus legislation and $87 billion in new spending in just a few hours. That’s not how our democracy is supposed to work.”

“The Liberal’s programs have been riddled with holes that have caused many hardworking Canadians to fall through the cracks. It has been Conservative solutions and pressure that have fixed these programs for Canadians. What’s more, Canadians are concerned about the political games the Liberals are playing during this pandemic with disability benefits, our national security and telecommunications network with China, and by using a tragedy to push their agenda on firearms.”

“Canadians expect competent governance. It’s time for the Liberals to get serious about their job and their legislation and debate their proposals in a proper sitting of Parliament.”
